I very carefully paid all my bills before I left for Boston.

The check to my credit card company got lost in the mail. I just called the bank, and the check hasn't cleared.

I now owe last month's bill, plus late fee, plus this month's bill.

I feel like going down to the post office with the Sledgehammer of Gentle Reminders and reminding them not to lose things.

[EDIT: I called the credit card company and got the late fee taken off. I still owe them more money than I can afford right now, though. Mutter mutter grumble post office mutter mutter...]

The US Postal service is a n idiot asylum. I thought you knew.
This is why I never get anything delivered to my apartment anymore -- can't afford to lose anything else.
They must die.

I've also started to go to e-transactions (done from my bank, not from the payee). I've also had a couple of lost bills incoming too (hmmm...it seems I haven't paid that in a while...how come?), and automating the reminders helped with that part of things. I have also had (twice) people deposit an amount different than the check was written for, but since both times it was the pennies and not the dollars, it wasn't a real problem until I tried to balance my checkbook.
