Monday

You know it's Monday when every time you think about breakfast, the phone rings. I had to go pick up some slides, and fortunately there's a Dunkin Donuts between my office and the film place, so I got breakfast anyway. I got voice mail while I was gone, of course.

The weekend was rather like a weekend. On Saturday, since it was raining and it's not fun going pumpkin hunting in the rain, we went to Victor Hugo, which is my favorite used bookstore. Unfortunately, it can't afford the rent where it is any more, so it's having a gigantic sale until Christmas. I bought the following, for $51 total:

The Bull From the Sea, by Mary Renault
A book of cartoons by Gahan Wilson
Children of the Night, by Mercedes Lackey (Brain candy)
The three Star Wars books by Timothy Zahn (more brain candy)
Tournament of Shadows, which isn't scifi, although it sounds like it. It's about the relationship between Imperial Russia and British India.
Brass Ring, by Bill Mauldin (for my father for Christmas).

So far I've read The Bull From the Sea and the Gahan Wilson cartoons, and I'm working on the first book of the Timothy Zahn as a bedtime book and Tournament of Shadows as a book for the train.

Yesterday I went pumpkin hunting, and came home with a probably-30-lb pumpkin. Thank goodness they get lighter when you take the insides out. It's a tall skinny one, as opposed to a round one. Now all I have to do is come up with a suitable face for it. This is how, every Halloween, I go through a lot of paper trying to draw faces.

It is now 1:10, and it's high time I ate the muffin I bought for breakfast. It's definitely Monday.
