I wish my brain would quit with the wanting to be up early on weekends. Although yesterday it wasn't really my brain's fault; a couple of cats making whoopee in Mario's back yard at 6:30 yesterday morning woke me up (and woke up the Hairy Beasts, who have no such equipment but were interested in the noise) and then my brain said "Oh yeah? Not going back to sleep again." So I ended up going to Zaftigs at 8:00, and screwed myself up eating-wise for the rest of the day. I guess breakfast had better be REALLY worth it if I'm going to do that, and this wasn't quite. The Deluxe Town Diner has spoiled me for corned beef hash, and besides that, Weight Watchers doesn't know how to count it. So I had grated radish slaw for lunch, and an entire bag of snap peas in the middle of the afternoon, and smoked salmon and cashews for dinner, and was grumpy about it. Next time I go get the stuff I really want. (Actually, next time I think I try a breakfast burrito from Anna's if I'm in Coolidge Corner that early. I've wanted to do that for quite a while now.)
On Saturday I went wandering from home to Harvard Square, from Harvard Square to Kendall Square by T, from Kendall Square to the Galleria on foot, back over the Longfellow to the Eddie Bauer outlet, and came home again by T with four pairs of shorts, and two pairs of jeans that fit better (not so much with the MC Hammer jeans, thanks, and they also fit in the waist). I realized that the reason it feels like I'm always buying new pants is because I've done it five times in the last year. Hopefully now I'm done, if I keep the 10s from the last round and the 8s from this round. If I can stay at 150 or under, I'll be happy. Last week I got down to 142.5, but that was biology, and I wasn't expecting it to last.
The second of my two pregnant current coworkers had her son on Saturday. He was eight weeks early, which is unfortunate, but he's here and he seems to be holding his own. I hope it's all up from here.
Since Harvard graduated last week, this week it's positively tranquil around here. The squads of landscapers who were frantically beautifying the place have gone away, and so has the tent, and there's less traffic of all sorts. The Canada geese haven't come back to the quad either, which is interesting; I wonder if they decided it wasn't worth the hassle, or if they'll be back once they find that the tent is gone. I don't think we need Canada geese on the quad, but it's probably illegal to do anything about them other than clean up a lot of guano all over everywhere.
I was supposed to have lunch with a former coworker today, but that got canceled, so I had the staff-meeting lunch instead (baked ziti and salad and Horrible Evil Chocolate Trifle-Like Stuff. All of which I could have eaten quite a lot more of than I did). I still might have to go out and get tea, though, because it's too nice out to spend all day indoors.
