May I be excused? My brain is full.
I've had it with politics, and political parties of all stripes. I think we should do away with the entire political party system, and anyone who wants to run for office has to do it as an independent and come up with their own money to do it with. Enough with everybody worrying about the third-party candidates splitting party votes, enough with one party attacking another's entire stance on anything, enough with the national conventions and the campaign financing laws that don't work and all of it. Let everybody run as independents on a reasonable budget (like most of the rest of us), and let the voters sort them out. Which is how it's supposed to work in the first place.
(I suppose, to be fair, that the current system does put the two major candidates on a more or less even footing; it's just that by the time it gets around to the election, I'm so sick of the oneupsmanship and other garbage that I would vote for Pinky and the Brain if I could write them in anywhere.)
As a side note, it's a shame Walt Kelly is dead. He'd have had a field day with the current administration, if not the current state of politics in general.
Right. Now that I've got that out of my system...
I just sent email off to the Massachusetts Medical Interpreters Association, trying to find out if the idea I had about training medical students to work with interpreters has already been thought of by somebody else. As long as it's quiet around here, I might as well do something productive.
Speaking of productive, since I can't make up my mind, I present a poll:
