Trader Joe's replied to my email, but it boils down to "Get used to it, because the old sour cream isn't coming back. And be glad it isn't worse, because the supplier wanted to add a bunch of other preservatives to it." So I will now be spending an extra 50 cents per container on two-ingredient sour cream from Whole Foods. Or I can stop being addicted to sliced radishes or cucumbers (or both), with smoked salt and sour cream. Which will only happen when I can't get either cucumbers or radishes, or when I run out of smoked salt (I have two more jars).

I never used to believe in the death penalty, and then Oklahoma City happened and I found it didn't bother me at all when McVeigh was sentenced to death. I'm still OK with that, but I'm not sure what I think about Tsarnaev. Badly advised by family, yes; killed four people and caused the amputation of 17 legs, yes; caused 247 other visible injuries and who knows how many other invisible ones, yes; will cost a small fortune in appeals, yes; will cost another fortune to keep alive for what I assume will be several more decades, yes; but deserving of death, I don't know.

Would making your own sour cream be an option? I've never made it, but if there's one out there with two ingredients, maybe it's not too hard to do.

You might check out Breakstones at the normal grocery store? I buy only full-fat sour cream because it has less junk in it, and that is the brand I buy. I don't know that you must go to TJ's for that. Of course, maybe you don't go to Stop and Shop regularly.
