surprises

It seems I'm taking the driving test at 11:15 next Tuesday morning.

My parents think my not wanting to live with roommates I've never met is a perfectly legitimate factor in apartment hunting.

I drove on the freeway for an hour without panicking about it. (The last time I drove on the freeway, it was in CT, I was 17, and I had to go across all four lanes of the Gold Star Bridge in New London in a hurry to get to an exit. Not fun.)

Olive oil and lemon juice and garlic and rosemary and salt and pepper makes a very good marinade for pork chops. It would probably be good with chicken too. (This is not a surprise.)

It is now time for lunch, followed by a trip to the post office, possibly followed by laundry (although that can wait until Saturday if it has to).

Good luck with continued apartment hunting! I don't think anyone wants to have random roomies, but unfortunately the cost of living in the area makes it prohibitively expensive to live alone. Usually visiting/interviewing with prospective roomies will tell you pretty quickly if you might be a good match.

It used to be easier before all y'all went and got engaged or married or moved in with your significant others. :)

Funny how that happens!

Yay you! see, you are older and wiser and all that happy stuff now and you will be a responsible driver. Just don't let the whole "test" part of it fluster you. You can do it.

I saw a big chunk of fresh tuna at Trader Joes today and thought of you. I was thinking of bringing it home and the two of us barbequing on the front deck at Union street with the flames big and high as the lighter fluid burns off. Can't wait for you to get back here so we can have a couple summer barbeques.

On the house hunting front, consider seriously the possibility of finding a summer sublet instead of a full lease and then possibly moving in with someone like Greenlily in the fall. I know you don't know her personally, but I think you would be able to live together very comfortably.
