Yet another request for crossed fingers...

I just sent off the sample translation for the contract in October. I think I did it justice, although I know there's one place where I couldn't find a term, so I went with what I thought it meant rather than what the dictionary was giving me. The sentence makes sense as I translated it (which it wouldn't if I had gone by the dictionary), but I don't know if I got the meaning right.

I really want this contract. Even if it is only for a year, at least somebody will have recognized that I didn't get the degree for sitting around looking picturesque. I really do know what I'm doing.

How far, I wonder, will my believing that get me before I get somebody else to believe it too?
