third arms and the consequences of thirst
I don't know how she does it, but the woman who cuts my hair does something with a hair dryer that makes it all lie flat and stay that way until I wash it again, even if I sleep on it before I wash it. I wish I could do that, but when I try, I generally arrive at the conclusion that I need a third arm.
It was cold again today, but my brain overruled my internal thermostat and I walked up to Trader Joe's. Apparently I really wanted the exercise, although I didn't realize it until I was halfway between Brigham Circle and Brookline Village. I shouldn't go grocery shopping when I'm thirsty, either, because I ended up buying milk, which I needed, and soda, which I had sworn off in January (even though it was Italian soda and didn't have corn syrup in it), and chai, which has caffeine in it and which I probably shouldn't make a habit of. All of which wouldn't have been a problem, but just try running across the intersection of Harvard and Beacon to catch a bus while encumbered with a bag of soda and milk and chai and a large bottle of pickles and some other things. I did catch the bus, which is a minor miracle.
Tomorrow I have to sit down and WRITE, dammit, or I'm never going to get this paper off the ground.
