Two things that amused me today (probably more than they ought to):
1. I was scanning letters for a final meeting packet this afternoon. For some reason, the person who sent me the letters thought it necessary to stamp CONFIDENTIAL on every single one of them. (I know they're confidential, thank you very much, and I'm the one who asked for them in the first place, so it's all wasted effort.) Normally, when I scan letters, I crop the margins off so I don't have to argue so much with Word about image placement and white space and document margins and all that jazz. So I'm cropping one of these letters, and the stamp is in the top right corner, and I suddenly realize that if I crop it where I've set it up, it's going to say CONFIDENT. For some reason I find that hilarious. I reset the cropping, and discover that in the second incarnation, it says CONFIDE. I spend the next five minutes snickering, reset the cropping again, and manage to make it not say anything.
2. I took the M2 shuttle to Cambridge tonight. It goes to Cambridge via Mass Ave, and on Mass Ave right around MIT there's a very large brick building that says, in large white letters on its front, "METROPOLITAN STORAGE WAREHOUSE, FIRE PROOF". Where the bus stopped, the corner of the building cut off some of the letters, and what it said from that angle was "RAGE WAREHOUSE, IRE PROOF". We don't want any of this half-assed ire stuff; this is a rage warehouse and we only accept the genuine article?

raise your hand if you're CONFIDENT
