a semi-drunken ramble
(Note: semi-drunken = one beer, drunk on a very empty stomach)
People I know are buying houses, and cars, and big stuff like that. I'm debating whether or not I can afford to buy Christmas presents for my immediate family this year, and which is more important, rock climbing or trombone lessons. I can't imagine having enough money to afford a car, or a down payment on a house. Granted, half of my income is going for rent and another $400 a month is going for student loans, but the third loan hasn't kicked in yet (I love my parents) because I can't afford $600 a month in loan payments. I am never going to be able to afford a car at this rate.
I need another job, but nothing I can stand doing is hiring for evenings and weekends only. People are hiring college students who have no classes after noon if they can possibly avoid it.
Oh, and no laundry tonight. I could either do laundry or stay home and clean, and I wanted to stay home tonight.

It's good to know what you are and aren't willing to do - it's also useful to re-evaluate that on a periodic basis in the light of future goals and the present situation.
