orange bathtubs and random oddities

There's got to be a word somewhere for what happens when you're unhappy, and then you run across somebody unhappier, and suddenly you're fine again, without the whole process of "gee, that's awful, I should appreciate what I've got" going on in your head.

Anyway, I'm better today. I didn't get quite enough sleep last night, and my previously white bathtub is a really disturbing shade of orange because I left bleach in it for most of 16 hours, but I feel better about life in general. The prevailing internet wisdom says that Clorox 2 will fix the bathtub problem, so I'm going to try that. (What DID people do without the internet?) Since it's mostly peroxide, I expect it will bleach the porcelain out again.

Schadenfraude

the official definition is "happiness at the misfortune of others" (It's missing the umlauts over the U). Featured wonderfully in the musical "Avenue Q"

It's not quite schadenfreude, because schadenfreude doesn't necessarily involve you being unhappy to begin with, and the condition I'm trying to name does.
