the dream is real

If everything goes according to what plan there is right now, I'm moving to Brighton sometime during the last week in August. (Hey [livejournal.com profile] whuffle, I get the second floor back! Want to come borrow the bathtub?) :)

*BOING*

That means I get to have an office and reading room to put my computer in, instead of my living room or my bedroom. It means I get to have pets. It means I get my own thermostat. It means I'll have a kitchen I can hold a square dance in, and a pantry half the size of my current kitchen. It means I get a fairly large balcony, which means I can put a hammock on it if I ever get around to getting a hammock.

So, yeah. Radiantly happy camper.

*BOING*

ETA: It also means I can do laundry without having to save quarters. This is a very happy thing.

Heh, tub.

I'll happily help you move. Even if you are moving into the second foor. Better yet, I'll help you clean up and repaint. (Particularly that front room closet with the sticky stuff in it that kept ruining clothing.) Oh, and BTW, you can get a very nice hammock at overstock.com. You can get Swing Chairs with stands, Parachute silk hammocks, and swinging chairs without stands

Do you need a care package of bath stuff to celebrate what must be a lovely tub?

Good on you!

I don't think I need bath stuff, but [livejournal.com profile] whuffle might, and the idea of the guest towels and guest bath stuff amuses me.

It's not a particularly lovely tub, but since the overflow got turned around, you can fill it 3" deeper than would usually be the case, and that's lovely.

Oh, and yeah, when you are ready, I'll go to the shelter with you to adopt a kitty. (Hey, I may be allergic but I do like the little fuzzballs. So at least I can live vicariously.) While the place in Natick is a great place for adoption, but these days I would actually recommend going to the SPCA or ARL shelters first. I may have issues with the SPCA and with the ARL over their money mismanagement, but the animals in their keeping are likely to be euthanized if they can't get adopted fast enough. So at the very least by adopting from these shelters you can give a cat a home that really will be facing life or death without you.

Is this the old place or somewhere else?

[identity profile] dchenes.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the old place. It's going to make my commute longer, but practically everything else about it makes me very happy.

I foresee a night where Whuffle heads over with her laptop to borrow the bathtub and follow up with the two of you playing Civ IV vs each other..

Kudos! That was the bestest appt!

[identity profile] happyfunpaul.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Assuming I'm around then, I'll be happy to help you move.

Incidentally... why'd you move out in the first place? I think I missed that story.

[identity profile] dchenes.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I moved out to go to grad school in Ohio, and when I was ready to come back, there was another tenant there. The other tenant is now moving to Maine and I'm moving back to Brighton.

Oh, OK! Got it now; I'd misunderstood the timing before.

Where do you work that from-Brighton is a longer commute?
