herein, the Great Cat Food Quest

Tomorrow commenceth the Great Cat Food Quest, Part 2. Snip's allergic reaction seems to bother me more than it bothers her, but it bothers me a lot. I'm told it will take eight weeks for any diet to have an effect on the allergies.

Part 1 consisted of switching out Purina One chicken and rice for Science Diet z/d. The experiment lasted two weeks before I declared a failure, because (a) the z/d gave Snip diarrhea, even after I'd been feeding them half Purina and half z/d for a week, and (b) Lily didn't like it.

Part 2 consists of switching out Purina One for a single protein source food, which I hope is both less expensive and more acceptable to Snip's innards and Lily's taste buds than the z/d.

It's logistically impossible to feed something to one cat and not the other. Snip will eat hers and half of Lily's, so I need to find something Lily likes that Snip isn't allergic to.

You might want to call Pet World in Natick. They have every food known to human and animal kind. If you want to try to get out there, let me know -- I'm going to need to make a dog food run out there anyway.
