what, me, busy? Never happens...
Last night we got another three inches of powder on top of the ice we had gotten the night before. Morning classes were canceled today, but that means nothing to me since I don't have any morning classes and I don't have any modeling jobs until tomorrow anyway.
Much better morning this morning, head-wise. I went to bed at 10:00 last night because I never got over the sleepy part of "sleepy and freezing". I kept waking up periodically all night, but I still managed to get enough sleep, so today I feel human again and I've managed to get everything I can do from home done for my class tonight.
I almost wish this class were two separate ones, because what it boils down to is an hour and a half of discussion of theory readings and an hour of workshop of actual translations, so I'm doing work for two separate things every week. I have to do the week's reading and come up with questions to hand in, and then I have to do the final version of last week's translation and the draft version of this week's. The draft version requires four copies to be given out to my classmates so we can see what we all did with the drafts. If we had the theory session one day and the translation another day, I think I'd be getting more out of the translation session.
Speaking of translations, I had a rather screwball idea the other day. Given that making a book into a screenplay is an intersemiotic translation (it moves from one form of media to another), does that mean that assembly instructions are also an intersemiotic translation, since you move from paper (or text files, or whatever) to an actual object?
