dchenesSince I was stuck out here in the boonies for my birthday (and had to put off the major celebrating for a week besides), I'm considering celebrating my half-birthday instead. That would be January 10, which means I'd probably be back in Boston or environs. So far there's no plan, just an idea.
I'm waiting for e-mail from my advisor about some files I sent her. I have a theory as to why the batch of files before that wouldn't open, and I want to know if I was right. My assistantship task this week was to turn myself into a search engine and find all the instances of one particular word in several documents, and make a list of the occurrences with context and page number. Three documents, 600 pages or so combined, three hours. I suspect this is going to turn into an article eventually, and I want to read the article if it does.
We got out of the 4:30 class early yesterday, so we did have time for dinner (although I was more sleepy than hungry, so I had coffee and then had dinner after the second class). One of my classmates is translating instructions for a piece of dental equipment into Romanian from English, so I sat down with her and tried to explain a mess of dental terminology in English during the 10-minute break in the middle of the second class. It was a long night, and I really should have gone to bed half an hour before I did. It took quite a while for my brain to catch up with me this morning. I'm still not thrilled about having to write my French composition for this week sometime today.
I never did get around to doing the dishes yesterday. I should go deal with that.
