Today was the first time since we got all that snow we had a while ago that I went grocery shopping for more than odds and ends. There's something very satisfying about looking in the fridge and seeing at least a couple of meals' worth of decent food, as opposed to "hm, well, if I had any salami, I could have salami and eggs, if I had any eggs". (Come to think of it, I haven't had salami and eggs in years, and I still don't have any salami.)

I bought one of those bean soup kits that consists mostly of a gazillion (I think 14 or 15 in this case) various kinds of beans, and I'm trying to decide what I want to put in it. The package suggests sausage; I'm thinking something along the lines of half sausage and half chicken and various veggies and spices. I think it's going to turn into one of my "open the fridge and the spice drawer and make it up as I go" experiments. I think I can live very happily without the artificial ham-flavored powder that came in the bag of beans. Whatever I end up with, I'm going to be eating for the rest of the week; it's a lot of soup.

I decided it was time to go off to the grocery store when I realized that I had made the exact same mistake in my embroidery that I discovered last night and ripped out a huge amount of stitches to fix. It's in a place where the pattern overlaps onto another page and I seem to be incapable of counting it correctly. It's almost warm out, and it was a pleasant surprise.

I should probably go figure out for certain what else is going in the bean soup.
