Jul. 1st, 2003 09:54 amI get the feeling that my dreams are trying to tell me something, but I haven't the foggiest idea what it is. I'm remembering a lot more dreams lately.
One of the houses I walk past every day on my way to and from the train station re-seeded its lawn recently. Yesterday the grass was at the "green fuzz" stage, where you can't really see any individual blades of grass, but there's definitely green and growing stuff there. For some reason that gives me hope, in general. Life goes on, grass grows, there are actually things that don't change regardless of everything else going on.
This morning I asked for a medium iced coffee, extra light, with no sugar. What I got was iced hazelnut coffee (ick) that had been given a look at the cream carton on its way past. At least they didn't put sugar in it. Time to start making my own coffee, and time to obtain a glass container to keep it in. If you keep iced coffee in the fridge in a glass container, it doesn't pick up the taste of whatever it's in (so I hear).
I called Kent State again yesterday and left voicemail again. Sigh.
Cherries are cheap at the supermarket this week. I bought four pounds yesterday. I just love cherry season, and I can't understand how anybody can think artificial cherry flavor tastes anything like the genuine article. Most artificial flavors seem to have at least a nodding acquaintance with the original, but artificial cherry just doesn't.
I've got various Gilbert and Sullivan songs running through my head in a constant loop. Most of them are from The Mikado, which is my favorite G&S show. I like parts of various others, but I can't say I'm all that thrilled about the entirety of Pinafore or Pirates or Ruddigore or any of the other ones everybody likes. Right now the soundtrack in my head is "A Wand'ring Minstrel I".
I keep sort of forgetting this is a short week. I know that the 4th is a holiday, and I know that it's a Friday, but I keep forgetting it's this Friday, and it's always a pleasant surprise when I remember. It's one of those time periods when I remember that a fair number of things are going to happen in a fairly short span of days, but I don't remember the exact days associated with them. Weirdness.
