Sep. 29th, 2003 02:34 pmHere it is, Monday again. At least it's a Monday involving clean laundry, and despite all appearances, it isn't going to rain.
This is what I learned over the weekend:
1. Mushrooms work much better in omelets if you cook them a little before you add them.
2. The lavender soap I hadn't used yet is in fact very very nice.
3. There are few things more frustrating than KNOWING you've seen a useful reference somewhere and not being able to figure out which of the ten or twelve books you're using has it.
4. The inventor of the Swiffer should be sainted.
5. Airfare back to the east coast for Thanksgiving is ridiculously expensive, so I'm staying put.
6. Writer's block is a bitch in English and worse in French.
7. The guy who lived here before me hasn't changed his address yet. I've got his car insurance, his cell phone bill, and something involving his student loans.
8. I need a haircut. When it's clean it looks scruffy, and when it needs washing it looks scruffier.
Something, probably squirrels, has been digging holes in my mulched-over front yard. They don't touch my (inherited) chrysanthemum, but they dig all around it. The chrysanthemum is much happier since it poured down rain for a while last week. It's putting out deep red flowers like there's no tomorrow, and my neighbor's holly bush is blooming too.
Right. Lunch, and back to writing papers, in that order.
