I turned in the job application forms this morning, and then went to the university library and found a book I'd been wondering about for a while. It's called Up the Country, and it's a collection of letters written by an Englishwoman in India in the 1830s. A book I'd read ages ago about the British and Russian spy games over Afghanistan back then had used Up the Country as a reference, and I thought that since I've got access to an academic library, why not see if they had it? And they did, and now I've got it.

After that I went up to Satterfield to see if the computer lab was open. It was, and there was almost nobody in it, and nobody had left me any mail (my mailbox, since I don't have an assistantship, is in the computer lab and not in the MCLS office). So then I came home, and collected the laundry and did the dishes, and had a very good mango for lunch. If mangoes are still (or again) on sale when I get ahold of some curry powder, I'm making mango curry with rice noodles. (I wonder how well curry freezes?)

I think after I get done with the laundry, I'll go into Historic Downtown Kent and see how long I can hang around in the teeny little park by the river with a book before somebody tells me to get off the grass. It's a good day for that.
