Jun. 7th, 2004 05:33 pmThis morning started a hell of a lot earlier than I wanted. I couldn't fall asleep until 2:45, and then one of my classmates called and woke me up at 7:30 just to give me her new cell phone number (useful to have, but ye gods...) I managed to get back to sleep for another hour, and then the weedwhackers/lawnmowers/leaf blowers started up less than ten feet from my bedroom window. At that point I gave up, got up and proceeded to feel like a slug all morning.
Somewhere around 1:00, it occurred to me that I really ought to be coherent if the landscaper I talked to on Friday decided to call me back today, so I woke up a bit and hung around waiting for the phone to ring. When it got to be 3:30, I'd had it with waiting, so I went to the grocery store. Good thing I did, because peaches, cherries and strawberries are all on sale, and those are three of my very favorite fruits. I swear I could live mostly on fruit in the summer. Anyway, having arranged to hold off starvation for the week, I came home again, discovered that I hadn't missed anything phone-call-wise, and here I am. (I can't call the landscaper myself, since he didn't give me a phone number; he was going to call me back on Friday and set up an interview, and didn't.)
It's hazy, hot and humid out, which is a change from the cool and overcast weather we've been having lately. Cool and overcast is better weather to schlep groceries around in, but if it wants to be summer out, I'm not going to argue with it. I have to do laundry tomorrow, but this time I don't have as much laundry as I did last time, and I took siercia's suggestion and decanted some laundry soap into a smaller bottle so I don't have to carry the whole works.
Ahhh, real cherries. There are no acceptable substitutes.
