mango karma and travel plans
Jun. 16th, 2004 01:25 pm(Catchy entry title, isn't it? "Mango Karma" sounds like a name for a band to me. Maybe my next computer will be called Mango Karma, following in the proud tradition of Cerebral Oddity and Notorious Parsley.)
Mangoes were on sale again last week, so I bought some. Usually I'm pretty good at managing not to buy mangoes that all ripen at the same time, so I can eat them over the course of three or four days. This time, though, the whole batch seems to have ripened at once, and mostly overnight at that, so I've got several almost-overripe mangoes to eat as soon as possible. The trick to this, of course, is to eat them while standing over the sink and while wearing a shirt that won't suffer agonies from being dripped on.
Having talked to my parents last night, we've all mutually arrived at the conclusion that my inability to find a summer job isn't terribly surprising and won't be an utter disaster, so sometime today I've got to buy plane tickets to Boston. Having also talked to the hostess of my crash space in Boston last night, we've mutually decided that I'm going to be in that end of the country from August 6-20. (Which is a week longer than I was originally planning, but that gives me time to get a good dose of Boston and maybe actually get to do the Boston-centric things I want to do before I have to come back out here, and gives me 10 days to get my act together before classes start on August 30.) (Run-on sentence, anyone?)
I'm waiting for somebody to tell me that the official letter offering me tuition and stipend is in the MCLS office so I can go pick it up. They offered me that option as opposed to mailing it, so I figured I'd get a little exercise and save them a stamp.
Hell with it, here's a List:
-Get letter from MCLS Got it.
-Read letter through, sign and return it
-Call Financial Aid and find out what to do about the government loan I don't need any more (YAY!)
-Find out if I have to be back here on the same schedule as the graduate assistants Yes, but not till 8/22, so yay.
-Buy plane tickets (which just keep getting cheaper; now I can get $117 round trip. Have I mentioned I love AirTran?)
-Call the payroll office and tell them I'm coming to get the check they called me about last Friday Got that too, and deposited it.
-Finish the embroidery design I'm working on so I can order linen for it
-Pay bills (it feels like I just paid the last round of bills, dammit!) Done, at least until next time.
-Figure out how much money I haven't got after paying bills and ask my parents for another loan
Since I have a List, I should quit sitting here messing around and see about making the list shorter.
