Aug. 30th, 2004 11:27 amI'm gradually cutting down my list of domestic stuff I want to get done before I have to spend all my time being a student. I just got done sharpening my kitchen knives, and now my hands smell like 3-in-1 oil, which brings me right back to being a little kid and looking through the kitchen junk drawer, which is where the sharpening stone was.
It's 71 degrees out, which is pleasant, and 94% humidity, which is slightly less so. It was more humid than that overnight, because it rained. I had a terrible time staying asleep last night, partly because of the humidity and partly because I had a truly nasty nightmare involving having my apartment broken into while I was asleep in it. It was one of those dreams that you wake up from convinced that it was real because the surroundings you wake up in are the same as they were in the dream, but the people who were in the dream aren't there, so it takes a while to realize that it was only a dream, and that your brain is being weird again, and you can go back to sleep and nobody's going to sneak up on you. It also didn't help much that I had to go to the MCLS office as early as possible this morning, and my brain chose to interpret that as 6:00 (wrong) and 8:30 (also wrong).
Today at 4:15 I find out what my work schedule is going to be like for the semester. I'm looking forward to that, because I haven't felt like I've been useful in general since last semester. For now, I should go deal with another couple of items on the list of domestic stuff.
