We ended up with something under a foot of snow; I think it actually works out to about 8". I guess the weather gods decided it wouldn't be any fun to sock us with a blizzard, because there are more places around here to put the snow you're digging your car out of. (The last blizzard I was in Boston for, you could put the snow in the street, on the sidewalk or on the surrounding cars, none of which were terribly appealing options.) The sun is out, and the wind chill is down to -7. Tomorrow it's supposed to get all the way up to 26, and by Wednesday they're talking about 38. It's a heat wave!

When, as and if they ever get around to clearing the sidewalks off today, I have to go do laundry. If it keeps being this cold out all day, at least I won't have to worry about the stuff that doesn't go in the dryer; it'll be frozen by the time I get it home.

As shocking as it sounds, I think I'm going to have to turn the heat down again. My thermostat has a red end and a blue end and seems to think the heat should be on full blast unless the air conditioning is on full blast. The AC is somewhat anemic, and I suppose the heat makes up for it by being overenthusiastic. If I ever own a house, it's going to have a thermostat that has degree markings on it somehow or other. And a bathtub big enough to lie down in or deep enough to submerge myself all the way up to the neck.

Time for coffee and all like that there sort of stuff.

People who drive talk to other drivers who can't hear them.

I talk to football players who can't hear me.
