Feb. 1st, 2005 01:12 pmMy brain is making fizzling noises, which is what happens when I spend two solid hours translating a medical article in questionably good light. But, I've got 10 pages of first draft (albeit very rough first draft) for my case study done, and I think the translation will end up being about 12 pages altogether, so I can kill it tomorrow if I'm with it enough. Then I can get into the other article, which is more of the same only more so. If I can get all of the first draft done in the next couple of weeks, I'm in really good shape.
Speaking of brain making fizzling noises, I've just gotten e-mail from somebody who wants to know if I want to take up freelance poetry translation in May. I'd almost be tempted to say I'll start now, because it won't be commercial, legal, diplomatic or medical translation, which is what I'm up to the ears in this semester. (Just what I need, more work...but if it pays anything at all, it'll be income, which is good.)
My favorite of the two grocery stores here is closing in two weeks. Sigh.
I have to go hunt up parallel texts on three subjects sometime this week. I don't want to think about that right now, though.
Oh, by the way, I finally got VirtualPC more or less working; the only problem is now it wants a product key I haven't got. I was told I didn't need one because I got the program through the MSDNAA. I have to install it before I graduate, but I'd really like to get it working completely before March, thank you. I guess today I'll accept a half-won battle, over where I was before, which was a pain in the neck of the first water. I don't have the energy to spare to be annoyed today anyway.
