Mar. 29th, 2005 11:12 amI found where the fridge was leaking from, because I caught it in the act. The vent between the fridge compartment and the freezer compartment has a sort of shelf in it, and that shelf is entirely covered with ice. I guess it melted some, and has been dripping down into the covering over the vent, and freezing again. There was a solid quarter inch of ice in the bottom of the vent covering, between the covering and the styrofoam block that's in there, and there's still ice on the shelf in the vent because it's impossible to get that off without taking the entire fridge apart. I melted some of it by virtue of feeling around in there trying to figure out what was up, but there's no way to get a sponge up there.
Even if I haven't fixed it, at least now I know what the story is, so I feel fairly well vindicated.
