in which I run around like crazy
Oct. 8th, 2005 06:33 pmIt was Wallace & Gromit, and ye gods was it silly! (In a good way, of course. I still think the "Assistance" button is a great idea.)
This morning I got up, looked at the weather, said "eugh", and went looking in the closet for something to wear tomorrow that had sleeves and wasn't absolutely wrong. I came up with a couple of "well, yes, but not for a wedding" options, and a couple of "what in the world gave you THAT idea?" options, and swore, and went downtown this afternoon.
I needed a purse for dressy social occasions, so I took care of that after about twenty minutes of looking at bags and despairing of buckles, tassels, colors, styles and capacities. I finally ended up with a mutt; it was the only one of its kind, but my wallet and a book and various odds and ends will fit in it, and it hasn't got enormous garish buckles or tassels or its brand name printed all over it, so it works. Then began the quest for a sweater or something like one.
( Shopping )
At that point it was something like 4:00, and I was hungry. So I got on the train to come home, and then it occurred to me that I had nothing much to eat at home. So I got off the train at Roxbury Crossing and instead of going home, got on the bus and went to Trader Joe's. By the time I got done with the commuting and the checkout and all that, it was 5:30, I still hadn't eaten anything, and was spacing out to the point that I forgot which side of the intersection the bus stop to go home was on. I missed a bus by forgetting that, too. So I went and hung around for twenty minutes until the next bus, and ate the sandwich I had bought, and then, finally, came home.
So here I am, still with the problem of what to wear tomorrow, but now at least in possession of an acceptable purse, and food. Too bad neither of my decent jackets is anything like festive.
