hmpf (random observations)
Nov. 21st, 2005 11:31 amIt is now going to cost me $96 round trip to go to CT on the train for Thanksgiving (it was $84 last time I did it), and I can either get to Mystic at 11:20 AM or 7:00 PM. Which means I'm probably going to take the earlier train and mess around in Mystic all afternoon so I can get a ride home when Mom gets out of work at 5:15ish. (I hope the library's open on Wednesday afternoon...) We have a family friend coming up from NYC, also by train, but I haven't the foggiest idea when he's getting in.
Eventually it's going to be cheaper for me to rent a car and drive down.
I'm back to my normal weekday routine of sitting around twitching and waiting for Harvard to decide whether I have a job next week or what. I should go out and get shampoo and conditioner and dish soap and all the other non-food stuff I'm running out of. And clean the kitchen, and vacuum, and do all that sort of stuff so I don't come back on Sunday and get disappointed that the elves haven't cleaned the place in my absence.
I don't know whether it's my internal temperature-regulation system finally getting its act together, or whether my landlord turned the heat up yesterday, but I wasn't freezing by the time I wanted to go to bed last night. (I did, however, rediscover the fact that polarfleece socks and linoleum add up to one's own personal skating rink. Fortunately I wasn't dealing with anything hot and/or sharp at the time.)
Oh yes, and I should find that stuff from the ATA conference, because I think I remember getting a handout dealing with some of the same stuff I want to write about. I think I know which box I left the ATA stuff in...ye gods, do I need a filing cabinet!
