*WHOMP*

There's at least one Calvin and Hobbes cartoon in which Calvin is minding his own business and all of a sudden Hobbes falls out of the air and lands on him. I'm Calvin, today, except I knew it was coming, and Hobbes is (at last count) roughly 260 pages of SOP packets. (SOP stands for Subcommittee of Professors, not Standard Operating Procedure. We don't have enough procedure around here to occupy 260 pages anyway.)

This is what I was waiting for yesterday, but we ran out of yesterday before I could get it.

I really should start packing tonight, but everything I have to pack needs washing. I think the guy who lives in the basement has disappeared again, so I can probably do laundry tonight. (Now there's a novel idea.)

I have a large amount of cleaning and other domestic stuff to do, and I'd like to do it before I leave tomorrow night, but somehow I doubt much of it will actually happen. Shame on me.

I'm waiting for my brain to slow down enough to get out of here. In the meantime, an anecdote:

It being the time of month it is, I wanted chocolate earlier. So I went down to the vending machine and attempted to buy some M&Ms. The machine wouldn't take one of the quarters I fed it, despite repeated attempts. All right, says I, what's wrong with it? Maybe it's a state quarter the machine doesn't recognize? So I hauled it out of the coin return slot and looked at it.

It's got two heads. One says 1967 and the other says 1986. I think the 1986 side is the fake one; the font isn't quite right.
