I think it's a good sign that I actually don't mind going to back-to-back staff meetings, because they actually do what they're intended to. They get us all on the same page and give us a sense of what the other people are keeping busy at. I come out of the weekly promotions staff meeting wanting to go home and go to bed, just because of the sheer volume of work we discuss, but I feel like I know what I'm doing, and I know what's on the top of my list (and what should be, if it isn't).

I've decided the best way to keep ahead of things is to make lists. I have, at the moment, one list on legal paper with the next three months on it, one on letter paper with the next month on it and an appendix of the stuff I haven't scanned yet, and one with the next week on it.

Having spoken to the appropriate person, it seems like I might be able to get paid in money for anything between 35 and 40 hours. Weight off my mind, that. Especially because if I get out of here at 5:00 tonight, it'll be the first time since last Wednesday. My trombone playing is suffering for it, although it's suffering to begin with. (At least I'm not learning to play the bagpipes, as I keep telling myself when I'm practicing at home and being loud and out of tune at the same time...)

The point of the above paragraph is that I work with reasonable people, and I enjoy that.

It is 26 degrees outdoors.

Why, I ask, has the heat not come on for about two hours now?

If I wasn't tired in the shoulders, I'd pour my enormous stockpot full of almost-boiling water down the tub to warm it up and then take a bath. (Unheated bathroom + porcelain tub = tub cold enough to take the heat right out of the water you fill it with)
