For once I came out of a computer training course with good ideas. I'd really like to be able to start posting SOP packets online in September. It will save us a zillion dollars in copies, for one thing, and it really isn't difficult to get a Word document in shape, convert it to a PDF, password-protect the PDF and post it on the Harvard intranet. I can do that if I get the right version of Acrobat and access to post things. I know there will be people who want the paper version, but that should be manageable.

The trombone is fun and all, but sometimes I wish I had always wanted to play something more portable (or less portable; if I played the piano, I wouldn't have to bring it on the bus).

Almost everything I have to do today is frustrating to some degree or other. That, however, is my problem, so I guess I had better go get some lunch and come back in a better frame of mind.

1. Trader Joe's asiago and black pepper bread makes a heck of a grilled cheese sandwich as long as the cheese isn't anything complicated. Plain old Monterey Jack works just fine.

2. I just sent off the first translation test, and I really hope it passes. The second, I hope, will come in tomorrow, since I got the request to take it at 5:00 today. (Transperfect was desperate, I guess; they're the ones I already took a test for and they said I wasn't adequate.)

3. I'm due to dye my hair again, and I was going to do it tonight, before I discovered the zit on the back of my neck right above the hairline. I guess I'll have to wait until at least tomorrow, because hair dye and previously irritated skin don't go together. They particularly don't go together at the back of my neck, which doesn't like hair dye all that much anyway.
