There oughta be a law against evaluation committees exploding on the morning of SOP meeting day. Oh well. If it's before noon and I've had time to alphabetize the SOP nametags, I'm doing all right.

There's nothing I can do about the exploded committee anyway. They were the ones who were absolutely convinced they wanted to go through SOP in December, so I got them in under the drop-dead date for that, but they were supposed to meet on Friday and they're still missing four evaluators' letters. Ain't gonna happen.

On a brighter note, one of the committees I had almost given up on seems to be getting better. Mostly due to the chair finally hiring an assistant who wants to get it over with. So I get to go on a field trip to the chair's office this afternoon and sort stuff out.

Argh, I'm getting nitpicked to death. Every time I turn around, there's some teensy little detail that isn't quite right, so I have to take the whole votesheet packet apart and replace a page. So far that's hit me three times today.

The other side of the freelancer's "never turn down work if it's offered" coin is, "turn it down if you know you're not qualified to do it." I turned down a financial translation today. I just don't know enough about how the French banking system works.

Honesty might eventually get me work even if expertise fails at the moment.

I'm tired. I think I ought to go to bed.
