OK, so it's September. That means August is over and things are picking back up again at work. Case in point: today we have a committee meeting. However, the summer construction projects are still going on downstairs, and apparently that means that somebody turned off the power to the wall outlets in the conference room. That means we can't plug in the conference phone, therefore two people can't call in to the meeting, therefore there aren't enough people present to actually have the meeting. The easy answer would be to find another room. Of course, due to office-shuffling and construction, there isn't another room available. So the meeting is going on in my boss's office, in which there isn't really enough room for six people.
The other easy answer would be to find a working outlet and run an extension cord to it. Of course, since we haven't had this problem before, we don't have an extension cord. Even if we did, it wouldn't be long enough. So, I'm putting in an order for 50' of extension cord and 50' of phone cord.
GRRR. If you're going to turn off the power in a conference room, TELL PEOPLE ABOUT IT!
On a more cheerful note, I think my cat's name is Lily. Pictures will be posted when I can get her to stay in the open long enough to take any. (Anything I take right now would be a picture of the back corner of my closet, with fuzzy feet.)
