Lily seems to think I might disappear again at any moment, so she's been keeping an eye (at the very least) on me all day. At the moment she's keeping her entire body in my lap.

Pasta fagiole is one of the two recipes in which I'll actually use onions. It just doesn't taste quite right without them. I had to use elbow macaroni for want of ditalini and pinto beans for want of shell beans, but it'll do. And it'll do better tomorrow, because it's one of those recipes that needs to sit around and mellow. I'm having it for lunch this week.

When I go to Noank and I'm not doing anything else, I tend to fall back on reading books. I read "The African Queen", which I think is probably better as a book than as a movie. (That's an uninformed opinion, since I haven't seen the movie. I don't like Bogart all that much.) After that I got 200 pages into "The Janissary Tree". I wanted to bring that to finish on the train, but I forgot. I'll have to get it from the library and finish it.

I needed the change of scenery. I still need a vacation, too, but I get that in three weeks.
