Now that was a good weekend. I was absolutely right; I needed to be Elsewhere for a little while.

I took Friday off and spent the morning cleaning things. I hate coming home to a disaster area, so I arranged for that not to happen, and then wandered off to the train station.

On Saturday we went sailing. It's not a good sail until somebody gets a bruise, and I got the usual one from climbing out of the dinghy onto the boat. The track for the outside jib sheet block is bolted to the rail right where you climb aboard, and I always end up bruising myself on it because there's nowhere else to put your leg once you've got your foot on the deck. So of course it was a lovely sail, and the water is clear enough now so you can see the schools of buckies running when the bass and bluefish are hungry.

After we got back to land again, I had a conversation with a family friend which, if I'd had it last month, would have made going to the counseling appointments unnecessary. Getting an unbiased opinion was good, but getting the same opinion from somebody who's known my family since six months before I was born is almost better.

Sunday, of course, was the MHYGF in Falmouth. That was fun. There was too much food (as opposed to WAY too much food), and them what wanted to went down to the beach, and them what didn't hung around at the house, and I got to see people I hadn't seen in ages.

On getting home I found that Lily's eye is absolutely fine, and nobody starved. (My handkerchief-hemmed skirt was found to be edible but not digestible, but as long as I get the hem re-serged and wear that part in the back, nobody will probably ever notice.)
