scary things

I was standing at the bus stop at 5:10ish, reading a book, when I heard a really nasty noise. When I looked up, all I could see was an arm and a leg flying through the air in front of a big black car. Apparently a woman tried to run across Brookline Ave. and didn't see the car coming, and since she was wearing black, we think the driver didn't see her either. She was alive and conscious and not bleeding anywhere visible when they loaded her into an ambulance and drove her around the corner.

I used to joke about how if you're going to get run over, that's a good neighborhood to do it. I think I won't do that any more.

So then I got home and the Hairy Beasts, for some reason, decided to go completely bazoo. Including knocking over the food dish, scaring themselves silly, running full tilt through the water dish and down the hall into the living room, knocking the living room door curtain down, scaring themselves even more and dispersing to the darkest separate hiding places they could find.

A not scary thing: I've had a stomachache all day. If I still have it tomorrow, I'm staying home with it.
