Oh, my aching eyeballs...

It works, but getting my database to collect all the right information with which to write emails took me all day.

The minor problems are that there aren't as many academic deans as there are hospitals, so I kept not getting records for people whose hospital didn't have an academic dean. Then I discovered that I wasn't getting records due to there being departments in some places whose department heads are elsewhere (the head of the Department of Pathology at the Joslin is actually the head of the Department of Pathology at HMS). And THEN I discovered that people got left off if they were in one department in two hospitals (Professor of Medicine at BWH and DFCI).

At the point when I had to tell the query that if there's a person with two departments listed and it isn't a joint appointment, I need information for the second department instead of the first, I had to go consult our programmer. I don't think I gave him quite as much of a headache as I gave myself. (At least I hope I didn't. There's an invisible pickaxe stuck in the side of my head, and I wish it wasn't.) By the time we were done today, the database was writing the basic emails, but I have to tweak them some more.

I do in fact have a new stove, which is good. And I have leftover pizza from last night, which is good too. I suppose since I also have the last piece of paper I need in order to do my taxes, and since I have a headache anyway, I might as well do taxes tonight.
