I got back from Noank this morning. While I was there, I learned things, to wit:

- Doing pull-ups on the rail while swimming around the boat on the mooring is not the best idea. I trashed my arms and then had a fairly terrible time getting back up the ladder (which is pretty terrible, itself, since it floats) and over the stern lifelines.

- Just because I know that a sailboat with a keel can't roll all the way over doesn't mean it doesn't feel like it's trying to, when it's over so far the starboard rail is in the water.

- My great-grandfather, who died on my father's 12th birthday, was a policeman in Somersworth, NH. Apparently he was also left-handed.

- My soon-to-be brother-in-law is pretty damn good at brewing beer.
