an inauspicious start
Jan. 20th, 2010 12:00 pmTo be said for today so far: at least I remembered to take out the trash. And the recycling, the paper bag of which promptly lost both handles all over the front steps and the sidewalk, so I picked it all back up again and missed the bus in consequence.
AND, the recycling bin woke me up at 3:45, because it was directly under my bedroom window and also directly under a drip off the roof. I love the fact that the new recycling bins are huge and have lids, but when the lids are shut and being dripped on, what you've got is a very large drum. I finally went back to sleep when the heat and the refrigerator came on at the same time and drowned out the dripping.
In the rush to get the trash and the recycling and me out the door, I appear to have left without my lunch. I guess I'll have it for dinner.
On the positive side, I had a very nice dinner last night, and wrangling the SOP is no longer in my job description as of yesterday. Now I get to wrangle the Council of Academic Deans, which is an 8-person meeting, instead of the 35-person SOP.
If it wanted to be naptime, I really wouldn't mind.
