TGIF, and thank goodness for the weather last night. I managed not to get rained on much, but when I did, it felt like somebody was throwing wet marbles at me. BIG raindrops, those. However, now that it's not 90 and humid, everybody's better off. The Hairy Beasts were wrestling again this morning, which is a good sign. I hope the place is still standing when I get home...
I did finally finish Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I'm reasonably sure it was worth reading once, but it's going in the "books that want homes elsewhere" box. I think the plot is interesting (and it avoided doing some things that would have annoyed me if they'd happened), but I didn't get invested in the characters and I didn't like the author's style of writing terribly much. If I had written that story, it definitely would have been shorter and probably would have been less superficial.
It seems that our office is indeed moving while this space gets renovated. It's getting renovated so we can fit 15 people in it. Which means that at least six filing cabinets which are currently full are going to have to go away, and all of our existing offices (and cubes) are going to get smaller. Apparently our temporary space, on the top floor of the newest HMS building, is worth handcuffing ourselves to in an attempt to stay there. Except we can't, because it's promised to somebody else.
One of these days in the not-entirely-distant future, I have got to decide what I want to do about my birthday. It being my 35th, I probably ought to do something.
