My brain is full of sludge, because when you have a cubic blortload of stuff under high pressure in a smallish space, you get sludge. (Eventually you get diamonds, but that takes quite a while.) I've been trying not to have a headache all morning.

Most of the sludge is due to the frustrating and worrisome guide I'm writing for the paperlessness committee. It's 18 pages of "how to create files and post them on the HMS intranet site", and I'm writing it for somebody who doesn't write anything down and also doesn't retain information very well. (It doesn't help that I think the HMS intranet was designed in the late 1990s and, since it worked, hasn't been upgraded since. It's a clunky old beast.) So I'm trying to write this guide such that when I get asked the same question five times, I can say "it's in the guide, go look it up". Because I don't have the time in general, or the patience just now, to answer the same question five times.

The problem is, I'm trying to take on junior promotions while still doing things for senior promotions (until TPTB figure out who I'm handing those off to) AND writing the guides for the paperlessness comittee. There isn't room in my head for all that stuff, because it's all complicated, even though I do write things down.

I think I'll take my trying-to-be-a-headache off to the post office so I can stop having to remember to do that too.
