windows (and Macs) and stuff
Oct. 7th, 2010 12:23 pmThe window guy came again today to reinstall most, if not all, of the interior sashes. Weren't no way I could take today off, so I stuffed Snip in a carrier and left her there. I hate the idea, because Snip hates being shut in the carrier (especially if it's not going anywhere), but I made it better by putting some smoked mackerel fragments in first. She likes smoked protein of pretty much any sort. I hope that trick works twice if I have to do it again tomorrow.
What I truly need is a new battery for my laptop, but it's a six-year-old MacBook Pro, so I probably need a new laptop. It goes for about an hour without being plugged in, and then shuts itself off with no warning. That can't be good for it.
Last week a sizable orb weaver spider discovered the living room window that opens onto the porch. This week she finally figured out that if you build a web perpendicular to the prevailing wind direction, all you're going to catch is detritus. So now the web is pretty much flat against the window, and I don't think she's going to catch anything that way either. I wish she'd figure that out and go someplace else. The webs are gorgeous, but the reason I hate spiders has to do with the way they move, and there's nothing to be done about that.
Sometime in the near future, I have to get to Wilson Farm and have my semiannual overindulgence in produce. (And cider donuts, which are OK when cold but one of the best things about fall when warm. Besides, I could stand there and watch the donut machine do its thing all day.)
Sometime this weekend, I have to finish the cleaning fit that's been ongoing (slowly) since last weekend. I have Things In Bags; now I have to dispose of the bags before they become scenery and I stop remembering they're there to get rid of.
