The Insidious Grue is now causing Niagara of the nose and general fatigue. And here I am at work anyway. Urgh.

However, it was a good weekend. Dad has been Officially Birthdayed At (with pot roast), and it didn't snow much. And I finally read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which was OK once it got going. Too bad it took a hundred or so pages to actually get going. I'm not sure I have any interest in reading the other two books in the series.

I can't read anything I know has been translated into English without reading it as a translator. I think I caught one sentence in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo that never quite got out of translatorese; there was a clause that didn't really belong where it was. (Semiotics has ruined me, too. Before I took that course, The Name of the Rose was a murder mystery with a lot of other bloviating going on. Now it's a discourse on semiotics with an incidental murder mystery.)

If it wanted to be warm out again one of these days, I wouldn't mind at all.
