This morning the sidewalks were clear all the way from the front door to the bus stop. I'm not sure I remember the last time that was true. There's actual bare ground in the back yard, too. Hooray for warm rain! Particularly because in addition to melting ice, it also washes all the gunge that was buried in the ice off the sidewalks.

Hooray, also, for the Franklin Park Zoo, to which I hadn't been before yesterday. I'll have to go back when it's warmer and slightly less muddy and there are more animals outdoors. Apparently the giraffes stay in unless it's 65 or warmer. But the big cats were out, so I got stared at by tigers and told off by a lion. And I know I don't want a ringtailed lemur, but I want to know what their fur feels like.

I really hope the Longer Service meeting this month will have a less-than-10-cases agenda. The last one had 16 and the one before that had 20. They broke the record last year with 56 cases over the whole year. I don't necessarily need to break it again.

Speaking of things that are broken, the regiment needs to reinvest in a pepper mill. Where does one get a good pepper mill these days?
