Mar. 31st, 2011 10:28 amI can't believe it's only Thursday. (And if I hadn't lived all but six and a half years of my life in New England, I wouldn't believe it's going to snow tomorrow.) However, the highly helpful family calendar informs me that today is Bunsen Burner Day, so Happy Bunsen Burner Day!
Right now I want to spend the weekend sleeping, but that's because my web site upgrade took a lot longer than I thought it would and kept me up a lot later than I wanted to be. But now at least the site looks like something, and all the links seem to work the way they should. And it only took me six tries to remember what passwords I was using in 2005 when I set up the domain...
Tomorrow marks the end of the two-week batch of Bean Sludge for lunch, and I think I might have to make something with a lot of spices in it for next week just to wake up my tongue again. If I remember to get some more paneer, I might make mango and paneer curry. If I remember to thaw out the hamburger, I might make chili. Whatever it ends up being, it will not be Bean Sludge, and that's the important part. (And that reminds me, I'm due for a pilgrimage to Penzey's again. Next time there's decent weather on a weekend, I'll do that.)
For no reason anybody can determine, Penguin Publishing sent the OFA Dean a book on the sleeping sickness epidemic in the early 20th century. It's been sitting around for a month, unloved, so I absconded with it. I'm 60 pages into it and so far it's interesting, but I wish it included a little more background. That may be coming later, though. Right now it's taking a slight detour through the history of the Department of Public Health in NYC.
I think high-octane coffee might be called for. They replaced the Keurig machine in the kitchen and the new one is a very persnickety specimen. It only recognizes there's a cup in it if it wants to.
