(no subject)

We had an extended thunderstorm today, and I learned that Snip still hates loud weather. She slunk into the kitchen and curled up on the floor and tried to bury her head in my foot. That was so pathetic that I picked her up and took her into the living room, and she stayed on my lap and buried her head in my elbow whenever the thunder went off. I wonder if she'll remember that the next time we have a thunderstorm?

I went grocery shopping three times today, mostly due to lack of planning on my part. I knew I was going to go to two of the three stores (TJs has cat food, Shaw's has seltzer in interesting flavors), but I had to go to the third because we're having a family thing tomorrow and I had to think of something to bring. I had grand plans involving spinach and feta and tomatoes and phyllo, but I would've had to bake it tonight and refrigerate it. Baked phyllo dough doesn't handle refrigeration well. So then I thought I'd make stuffed bread, but a cool humid day is a bad bread day because the bread takes forever to rise. It was late afternoon when I had that thought, so hummus and pretzels it is. I'll figure out the spinach etc. thing for lunch next week. (I'll probably throw orzo at it and call it vaguely Greek orzo salad.)
