stuff, and things, and stuff
Jul. 5th, 2011 04:09 pmLong weekends are usually good. Long weekends that sneak up on you are better, because you (meaning I) don't sit around waiting for them to show up. This one snuck up on me. I did a largish amount of useful things, including a fair bit of cooking, and cleaning of things, and a trip to Staples to recycle the dead inkjet printer. I'm trying to get the place fit for human occupation before the parents see it in two weeks. (It's not that bad, but the clutter is bothering me and the Hairy Beasts are shedding like it's going out of style.)
I also did a lot of embroidering, partly because I wanted to and partly because I want to be more than half done with the remaining full pages of this pattern before I buy supplies for the next project. Which I plan to do at the end of the month, in celebration of paying off my student loan. So I did a lot of embroidering this weekend, and only stuck myself three different times in two different fingers. I do that when it's hot out because my hands sweat, and my fingers slip, and I end up pushing the back end of the needle into my finger instead of pushing the front end through the fabric. That'll teach me.
At this time last year, I was just starting to learn the junior promotions process. This year I'm doing all of it by myself for two weeks, because my partner in crime is in Costa Rica on vacation/honeymoon. I think a year is enough training to be able to hold down the fort, at least. And thank goodness the meeting next week is only Longer Service. After dealing with SOP and P&R, I can practically do Longer Service with my eyes shut.
I got through the weekend without any ice cream, but I had to have it today. It's not quite peach season yet, but the peach ice cream at JP Licks is satisfactory. When it's peach season, it'll be incredible.
