It was a busier weekend than it had any right to be, all things considered.

Saturday I decided I wasn't going outdoors if I didn't have to, so I stayed indoors and did four of the six possible loads of laundry. I would very much like to know at what point in the process the laundry gremlins made off with one of my pillowcases. I suppose they must have been starving to death, because they haven't had any socks in years. However, I really do want my pillowcase back.

Sunday I did a good deed in the morning and then wandered off to my first professional voice lesson ever. Verdict: I've got stuff to work with (which is good), and stuff to work on (which I knew, hence the lessons). Cool beans. One of the things I probably ought to work on is the fact that I sing with my eyebrows a lot. The lessons ain't cheap, so I'm going to have to rework the budget a little. But only a little.

On the way home from my lesson I wandered through the Brookline Booksmith and, in a fit of temporary insanity, bought a copy of Go the F**k to Sleep. I have no idea why I did that, since I have absolutely no need for it. Of the people I know who are going to need it Real Soon Now, one wouldn't be amused and the other probably already has a copy. I did also buy another book about Ghenghis Khan's daughters, which I'm reading. (Which reminds me, I have to update the list of books read so far this year.)

Last night I finally turned off all the fans I'd had going full blast for most of a week, and unplugged the air conditioner. When I woke up this morning, both Hairy Beasts were asleep on the bed. I guess they miss me when it's too hot for them to sleep on anything but hard surfaces. Lily tries to get around that by coming and visiting me several times between 4:30 and 6:00 in the morning when it's hot. Very cute, but not terribly convenient.

I'm not sure where July went, but it seems to be taking forever to end at the same time. How does it do that?
