Book #63: Polgara the Sorceress
Book #64: The Help
Reading The Nazi Officer's Wife and The Help in the same month is a bit much, since both books lean pretty hard on "why is it acceptable to treat other human beings like that?". I think after I'm done with The Help, I'm going to want brain candy.
I sort of feel like I wasted the weekend. Even though I had nothing special in mind to do on Saturday, I spent the day at home with a mild stomachache. It was gone on Sunday, which was good because I had a voice lesson to go to. Turned out to be a good one, too. And somebody readjusted Mario's downspout, which I discovered this morning when I woke up and didn't hear water hammering on metal.
Having had the use of one, I've decided that I don't actually want to own an air conditioner. I'll borrow it again if we have another heat wave, but I don't like having the bedroom window full of air conditioner unless I'm actively using it. When I'm not using it, it blocks off any air that could be coming in through the window. I'd rather have air than the air conditioner. (I must be a New Englander.)
