I could have lived without last week, but this weekend was nice. I thought I was going to do nothing on Saturday, and then the definition of "doing nothing" got stretched all out of proportion. I ended up going downtown for embroidery floss and new sweaters (thank you, Eddie Bauer outlet), and then coming home and doing laundry, and then going out again for milk and butter and yeast because I decided to make stuffed bread for lunch this week. So I didn't do nothing, but I also didn't do anything I didn't feel like doing.

I did more actual nothing on Sunday (partly because of the time change, which meant I woke up at 7:30 and had time to do nothing with), and ended up cleaning the kitchen in fits and starts before I started on the bread dough. I doubled the amount of whole wheat flour by accident, but it worked anyway. What I ended up with was two actual loaves of bread and one big loaf stuffed with sausage and spinach. The only problem was, I was running late for my voice lesson, so I had to turn off the oven with the stuffed bread still in it and run out the door. I baked the other two loaves when I got back, and fortunately they hadn't risen so much that they took over the kitchen. I don't care what anybody says about gluten-free diets; there's still nothing quite like brand-new warm bread with butter and honey on it. (Assuming you haven't inadvertently glued the lid onto the honey jar when you used it as an ingredient in the bread to begin with.)

I really hope it doesn't rain all day on Friday. If it wants to rain in the afternoon, that's fine. Just let me get the Hairy Beasts home from the vet first.
