And there was new mattress, and escaping cat, and busted deadbolt lock, and that was not so good. (New mattress is good, but the rest was part of the same expedition.) Escaping cat was due to busted deadbolt, which I then rendered only halfway unbusted after retrieving the cat. The key will turn, but it won't open the lock from the outside. At least I can get out and the Hairy Beasts can't.
New mattress is HIGH, because it's a fairly serious pillowtop. It's probably at least a foot higher than the old mattress and box spring. (What do you MEAN the covers don't drag on the floor?) It's also a queen-size mattress, and the old one was a full-size, so now there's cat space and me space and they don't overlap as much.
